STANLEY Iakopo and his children will compete in the 2023 Dee Clayton Classic & Northern Marianas Bodybuilding and Physique Federation championships set for Saturday, June 10, at Saipan World Resort.
Iakopo has been competing in bodybuilding events over the years, but this time, his children — Audiescott, Mametto, Filomenaleonisa and Akata — will be joining him, if not compete against him.
“It’s truly a dream come true,” he said. “I’m honored to compete with my kids. I’m blessed and God has been good to me in my life,” he said.
“My kids are my role models. I look up to them,” he added.
They’re eager to get on the stage, especially with their father — “they love competition, it’s in their genetics,” Iakopo said.
Initially, he did not want to compete, but his children encouraged him to participate alongside them.
Felomenaleonisa has experience on her side, but for her siblings, this will be the first time they’re competing in a bodybuilding event.
“I want to really focus on my kids’ training, especially their diet while emphasizing the science of bodybuilding in terms of physiological movements, how to build muscles and shred to look leaner, while learning how to exercise properly,” Iakopo said.
He and his children are also involved in other sports which they consider an opportunity for growth.
Audiescott, Mametto, Filomenaleonisa and Akata compete in motocross, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, rugby, track & field and basketball.
“We always train and do things together consistently as a family,” their father said.
Filomenaleonisa is also preparing and training for the 200M sprint event of Oceania Cup 2023 which will be held on June 22 to 24 on Saipan.
“Having my kids train, compete, and get involved in many sports is truly a dream come true for me,” Iakopo said. “It’s natural for them to easily transition to another sport because they do other sports.”
