Kelvin ‘The Big Hit’ Fitial to face Travis Wiuff in Minnesota

KELVIN “The Big Hit” Fitial will battle it out with Travis Wiuff in the Med City Fighting Championships 2  on May 13 at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium in Rochester, Minnesota.

In November on Guam, Fitial won against Ben Schneider via TKO in round 1.

Fitial’s opponent this time, Wiuff, is an experienced fighter who has seen action in 101 matches and has a win-loss-draw record of 78-22-0.

It was Med City Fighting Championships co-owner and CEO Matthew Vogt who gave Fitial the opportunity to headline MCFC 2.

“Travis has been in the game for a while so I looked around and found Kelvin who is from the Northern Mariana Islands, which is a U.S. territory,” Vogt said. “It is a great matchup between the two.”

Although Wiuff has a lot more experience and more wins on his belt, Vogt said Wiuff does not hold the upper hand.

“Did you see the fight between Kelvin and Junior Tafa? Kelvin is very strong and a very good wrestler,” Vogt said.

Fitial said he is happy to represent the NMI in another fight. “I knew I was going to get called soon and it’s going to be off island,” he added. As for his opponent, Fitial believes that Wiuff is “a legend — he’s a no. 1 contender.”

Fitial said he has been preparing for the fight by following the same training routine he used when he began his MMA career.

Confident in his stand-up and ground game, he is now more focused on his endurance. “It’s all about how long he can last,”  Fitial said.

Med City Fighting Championships 2  will be a pay-per-view event and will cost $14.99 only. “We just want to spread the word, and its viewable in the world. Let’s get the entire Marianas to watch the fight,” Vogt said.

The 30-year-old Vogt loves to travel the world and has been to 15 countries. He hopes to bring his organization and fights to the NMI someday.

Fitial, for his part, said he is thankful to Matthew Vogt for the invite. The Big Hit also thanked “Marianas Variety, and my sponsors IT&E, Health City Guam, La Mesa Kusina and my family for the love and support — I’m still looking for sponsors as well,”
