KHS leads co-ed outrigger

KAGMAN High School still stands tall in the co-ed division of the 2020-2021 Public School System Interscholastic Outrigger Race Points series after topping  the 1000m and 500m categories on Saturday at Kilili Beach.

However, it was Saipan Southern High School that flourished in the preliminary round of the 1000m category. Well-executed turns were the key to the Manta Rays’ triumph as they clocked in at 00:06:54.010 to collect five points, edging KHS which came in at 00:06:54.350 to settle for second place  and obtain three points.

For its part, the Marianas High School Dolphins received a point for coming in third with a time of 00:07:20.420.

Despite the SSHS Manta Rays’ strong start, they failed to keep up in the final round due to a costly error during a turning point.

KHS came in first with a time of 00:06:40.460 for five points while SSHS stunned spectators with a spirited comeback that allowed it to finish second with a time of 00:07:17.810 to obtain three points.

MHS was third with a time of 00:07:32.700 which was worth one point.

In the shorter 500m category, KHS remained firmly in the throne as the Ayuyus took first place in the preliminary and final rounds.

In the prelim, KHS completed the course with a time of 00:03:14.220 to earn five points while MHS (00:03:22.440) came in second to obtain three points. SSHS received a point for its third place finish (00:03:23.610).

The final round was no different as the KHS Ayuyus improved their time, clocking at 00:02:58.850 for a first place finish worth five points.

SSHS managed to finish second this time around, crossing the finish line at 00:03:04.230 to secure three points while MHS was third with a time of 00:03:08.170 to obtain one point.

Overall, Kagman High School is first place with a total of 38 points followed by SSHS with 24 and MHS with 10.
