KOBLERVILLE Elementary School 1 and 2 are currently in the lead in Groups A and B after the first two days of the 2020-2021 Inter-Scholastic Soccer League games on April 8 and 13 at the NMI Soccer Training Center’s Mini-Pitch.
In Group A, KoES 2 overpowered Saipan Community School 5-1 on Thursday, April 8.
Right from the start, KoES 2 unleashed a barrage of attacks as the Umangs eventually broke through with Jose Maratita finishing the play to give KoES the lead.
The SCS Tsunamis only had a brief moment to set up as KoES 2 continued to break through with Maratita scoring his second goal for a 2-0 KoES lead by halftime.
In the second half, the SCS Tsunamis flipped the script by launching an offensive. After a handful of back-and-forth action, SCS’ Jose Sablan delivered the Tsunamis’ first goal to cut down the KoES lead, 1-2.
But the Umangs answered with three consecutive goals courtesy of Kapua Hocog and Jairoh Guilas who scored twice to lock in a 5-1 victory.
KoES2 vs WSR
KoES 2 won again on Tuesday, April 13, this time defeating William S. Reyes Elementary School 5-3.
Against the Kingfishers, KoES 2’s Jose Maratita simply took over the game as he scored all of his team’s five goals.
He sank two goals at the 6th and 9th minute marks to give KoES 2 a 2-0 lead.
But WSR gained momentum in the second half with Aylssa Borlongan slicing through at the 24th minute mark to keep his team alive.
Maratita scored his third goal at the 30th minute mark, but WSR was not going away easily as Aldric Antonio returned the favor four minutes later.
WSR, however, could not stop Maritita’s rampage as he scored two more goals while WSR could squeeze in only one before bowing down to the Umangs, 3-5.
Group B
In Group B, KoES 1 is at the top of the heap with two wins and no loss.
KoES 1’s first win was against Brilliant Star 7-3 on April 8.
KoES’ Navarro and Surima powered through the first half with two goals each while Brilliant Star Montessori School only had one goal courtesy of Akeen Edvalson.
Brilliant Star added two more goals in the second half, but KoES 1 responded with three goals en route to a 7-3 victory.
On Thursday, the Umangs of KoES 1 once again displayed their dominance, this time by outscoring Isla Montessori 8-2.
It was the strong start that set the tone for KoES 1 as Jerz Navarro hauled in four goals while Bri Echalico scored one to give their team a 5-0 lead.
Isla Montessori scored two goals in the second half but KoES 1 notched three, two of them contributed by Andrei Tenorio for an 8-2 win.
