Kyunga Park tops golf tournament

KYUNGA Park finished first in the the CNMI Women’s Golf Association tournament held on Jan. 9 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

Park had a rough start, falling to a double bogey at the first hole, but she eventually found her swing with a handful of pars to end the front nine with a gross score of 44.

Park struggled in the transition to the back nine, scoring a gross of 47 for a total of 91. But with a handicap of 18, Park stood tall at the top of the food chain with a net score of 73 and was named the tournament winner.

In second place was Sherlyn Jones. Like Park, she scored a gross of 44 on the front nine but flipped the script in the second half of the course with an improved gross score of 41 for a total of 85. However, with a handicap of 8, her net score was 77, good enough for second place.

In third was Sae Hee Kim who had a decent output of 45 on the front nine and 43 on the back nine for a total of 88. Thanks to a handicap of 10, her net score was 78.
