THE Lady Eagles recorded their second victory in the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League after pummeling the Queens of Diamonds 17-1 on Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
The Queens of Diamonds drew first blood when Rachel Salalila hit a single.
The Lady Eagles then committed one error after another, allowing Salalila to round the bases and give her team a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
But in the top of the third, the Queen of Diamonds made defensive errors that allowed walks which filled the bases. The Lady Eagles Jeanette then capitalized with a two-RBI single to signal the start of an onslaught.
Angie Santos followed with a two-RBI single while team mate Clare Mabel also scored for a total of 10 runs as the Lady Eagles seized the lead, 10-1.
The Queens of Diamonds failed to get out of the gutter as they remained silent in the remaining two innings while the Lady Eagles continued to soar high, adding five runs in the top of the third and two more in the top of the fourth to force the mercy rule and bag an early win, 17-1.
Hot Shots vs 670 Babes
The Hot Shots also clinched a win after slipping past the 670 Babes, 11-10.
The 670 Babes opened the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning as they took advantage of the Hot Shots’ struggle to target the strike zone, resulting in walks. 670 Babes’s Tiah Camacho then added to the damage with two 2-RBI doubles for a total of seven runs made.
But the Hot Shots managed to regain momentum and eventually bounced back in the top of the fourth with two runs followed by four more in the top of the fifth to cut the lead, 6-7.
It did not stop there as the Hot Shots kept the flame burning by adding five more runs in the top of the six for an 11-7 lead.
The 670 Babes had one more chance in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, nearly pulling a late-game comeback with three runs scored. However, the Hot Shots stepped up, and in a crucial play snagged three consecutive outs to secure the win, 11-10.
