HOPWOOD Middle School powered past their younger siblings, Hopwood Middle School JV, 32-9, in the boys middle school division of the IT&E-PSS Interscholastic Basketball League on Friday at the Marianas High School gym.
HMS showed no mercy as they quickly heated up in the opening half thanks to their teamwork. Jay Ruwayngeg led the assault with four points while Twayne Kapwich, Jesus Santos, and Zuriel Abejo, chipped in a bucket each to seize the lead, 10-0.
During the second half, HMS JV started to gain confidence with Krisyan Enguerra contributing nine points, including two triples.
However, his output was not enough as HMS unleashed another offensive onslaught with Joane Camacho, Josh Lizama, Jerico Manuel and Jequinn Lizama scoring two points each to maintain a double-digit advantage en route to a blowout victory, 32-9.
Winners, too
Joining the winner’s circle were Chacha Ocean View Middle School which defeated Mount Carmel School JV, 26-7; and Agape Christian School, which outlasted Mount Carmel School, 28-25.
As for Saipan International School, its victory was assured when Tanapag Middle School forfeited.
