SAIPAN’S Sebastian Camacho played his first two years at a junior college, Southwestern Community College.
He made it to the national level in his last year there, and placed in the top 100 against the best Division 1 players in the nation.
He transferred out for his junior year to play at a top 100 ranked National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
He has played two tournaments there under scholarship and has found some early success with the Ottawa University Kansas Braves.
Last week, the Ottawa Braves defended their Ottawa Golf University Invitational title at Eagle Bend Golf and Country Club with a 292/299 team score to place first as a team with individual winners.
Sebastian Camacho led the first day with a 69, a three-shot lead, and a personal tournament record. Moving into the last day, his teammate Ethan Brumbaugh tied the course record with a 66 to win by three shots. Ethan finished first with a total of 140, and Sebastian shot a total of 143 to place second.
