“The swimmers did well at dropping times, but the outstanding swimmer for the meet was Kento Akimaru,” SSC coach Lisa Kimball told Variety.
The young athlete broke three records in the boys 9-10 category, beating Ryosei Toda’s 200-meter breaststroke time of 3:17.9 with 3:12.21.
In October 6, he bested Kaito Yanai (31.67) with 31.28 seconds in the 50m freestyle event. Yanai’s 1:09.34 record in the 100m freestyle was also broken by Akimaru’s 1:08.35.
Both meets were held in preparation for the 2011 All Schools Swim Meet this Saturday, October 15.
“The meets… trained new people to use the timing system and computer meet program,” said Kimball.
Akimaru will represent Saipan Community School this weekend and is registered for the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle events.
Also joining him earlier this month were first timers Coume and Conatsu Kaga, Louis Henley, David Boyer, Christian Villacrusis, and Allen Stafford.
Taking part in shorter races were beginners Hans Xu and Andrew and Alyssa Stafford.
The day-long All Schools Swim Meet starts at 8 a.m. tomorrow with warm ups at 7 a.m.
