The second round, according to tournament coordinator is very important for each team since it will be the last chance fro them to secure two games out of three rounds which is a mandatory format of the entire tournament.
After the second round, no new teams can join the third leg since there’s way for them to comply with the mandatory format, Dela Cruz said.
Nine teams each has 10 members, have participated in the first leg of the tournament which was held on May 17 and 18 at the Capital Hill Softball Field.
The winning team in this year’s final tournament will compete in the tournament of champions to be held in Palau in November. Each team however, must play two games out of the three legs in able to qualify for the Palau championship.
The CNMI team will face two teams from Palau and one team from Guam.
Dela Cruz said the nine teams that played in the first leg are still welcome to play in the second round.
He added that the King and Queen of the Diamonds is still inviting new teams.
The due date for the payment of $150 registration fee will be on July 31.
Shell Marianas topped the first leg while the Sai-Pal came second and the team Chaos, third.
What used to be the Budweiser King of the Diamonds before was turned into King and Queen of the Diamonds to give women the chance to bring out their potential.
Each team competing in the off-island meet shall have a maximum of 15 members to include two or more females on roster.
Under the new by-laws, each team of 10 players will have two females on the field at all times.
For the past three year, Dela Cruz said the No Ka Oi of CNMI has been the defending champion for the past three years.
