The six best male athletes and six best female athletes will be awarded with 900 AUD for first place; 570 AUD for second; 550 AUD for third; 350 AUD for fourth; 250 AUD for fifth and 150 AUD for sixth.
Prize money will be paid to athletes on their return home unless otherwise agreed upon between athletes and athletes’ federation. Awards will be paid in either Australian or US Dollars.
Athletes can compete in more than one event at each of the Grand Prix Series meets.
The athletes who have been chosen to represent their respective federations are Harmon Harmon, Samantha Lockington and Tereapil Tapoki of Cook Islands; John Howard of Federated States of Micronesia; Isoa Me, Salote Mereula, Makelesi Tumalevu, Iowane Dovumatua, Eugene Volmer, Isireli Naikelikelivesi and Leslie Copeland of Fiji; Genie Gierardo of Guam; Rabangaki Nawai of Kiribati; JJ Capelle, Rosa-Mystique Jone and A-One Tannang of Nauru; Frederick Erin and Sigato Kilama of New Caledonia; Betty Burua, Wala Gime, Sharon Henry, Sandy Katusele, Mae Koime, Mong Tavol, Toea Wisil, Salome Dell and Kevin Kaptamana of Papua New Guinea; Teiva Iza, Tupuhoe Tahi, Terootae Urarii and Toriki Urarii of French Polynesia; Aunece Curreen of Samoa; Jack Iroga, Francis Maniouru,William Taloga and Chris Walasi of Solomon Islands; David Benjamin and Arnold Sorina of Vanuatu.
The Grand Prix Series, according to OAA will be held in conjunction with the 2008 Oceania Under 18 and Open Area Championship.
The Grand Prix Series’ Open Events will be held on June 21, Saturday and June 23 and the Grand Prix Series 3 happens on June 26 to 28.
Those who will compete in the Grand Prix Series will remain with Grand Prix team until June 24, at which time they can join their respective federations for the Open Area Championship.
Meanwhile, the Under 18 and Open Area Championship will start with a Cross Country at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort at 6 a.m., to be followed by the parade of athletes from Carolinian Village along Beach Road and Opening Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., at the American Memorial Park.
