(TTT) — Tasi To Table’s highly anticipated student-led fishing derby, Wahoo in the Marianas, is set to take place on March 8, 2025 at Smiling Cove Marina. The annual event, now in its sixth year, continues to provide fishing enthusiasts with an exciting opportunity to showcase their skills while supporting Tasi To Table’s student programs.
Derby day kicks off at 6 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m., promising a full day of thrilling competition on the water. Registration will be held on March 7, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Smiling Cove Marina.
Participants can register their vessels for $200, which includes one captain and two anglers. Additional anglers may join for $30 each. Competitors will vie for top prizes, including $2,000 for first place, $1,500 for second, $1,000 for third, and a special $500 award for the total weight category, recognizing the three heaviest non-placing wahoo.
Wahoo in the Marianas is a unique event hosted entirely by Tasi To Table’s student members, demonstrating their leadership, teamwork, and commitment to ocean sustainability. All proceeds from the derby will directly support TTT’s student programs, ensuring continued education and hands-on experiences for the next generation of marine stewards.
“This is our sixth year of hosting the Wahoo in the Marianas derby, and it continues to grow in participation and enthusiasm,” said Tasi To Table President Gene Weaver. “We’re excited to welcome anglers of all levels to join us for a day of fishing, camaraderie, and support for our student-led initiatives.”
