Sublemente swept the men’s MTB long course category in under an hour, posting 49 minutes and four seconds to beat Bob Ferrer (50:57) and Morris Brian (51:00).
Ferrer and Brian placed second and third, respectively.
The race, also held by the newly organized Northern Marianas Islands Cycling Federation, included an MTB short course and road course to suit other bikers.
This is Sublemente’s second race this month, having joined the 5th Hell of the Marianas in December 3.
Carey, also a HOM participant, topped the women’s road bike division with 57:18 alongside men’s road bike champion Ariel Garcia.
Rima Yamagishi followed Carey with 1:24:46 while Norma Ada reached the women’s top three at 1:31:24.
Aldrin Sta. Ana — who posted 58:10 — wasn’t far behind and trailed Garcia for a second place finish in the men’s road division. Antonee Aguilar placed third with 1:00:11.
The long course for mountain bikers started at Paupau Beach and crossed through Suicide Cliff, the Kimikazi and Autobahn Trails, and Santati Lane while the road bike course stretched to Bird Island, Grotto, and Banzai Cliff, among other sites.
In the MTB short course, Arnel Cruz took top honors with 43 minutes and 42 seconds and Mamiko Berger (1:13:40) survived a hard fall to top the women’s division.
Bernard Laborce and Rosalio Quintos came next to Cruz with 47:38 and 48:34, respectively. Esther Ada was nearly three minutes away from Berger at 1:16:16 and Sheryl Camacho ranked third with 1:17:31.
An all male-pool dominated the MTB’s long course.
The inaugural event celebrated Beach Road Magazine’s 10th anniversary and the launch of the NMICF, which “was formed to foster promoting island-wide and international competitions in the CNMI,” according to a press release.
Leading the NMICF are President Vince Seman and Vice President Lewie Tenorio.
