9 teams join Rocball

Rocball organizer, Jim Feger said the newly invented sports have started stirring the interest of more young athletes the latest groups include most Kagman High School inter-scholastic volleyball team.

The Kagman team, Feger said made their trip over the mountain and played in a mix team of experienced players to get a grasp of the rules, then played a game with another veteran team. They will be called the Kagman Projects.

The CPC and Team No-Name also went on board.

Last year’s defending champions and runner-up teams the Islanders and the Fanians are back. The Soul Rebels, No-Mercy, One-Way, and the Ghasias Brothers make up the rest of the teams registered for this season’s games.

In the game which kicked off this year’s Rocball season, the Ghasias Brothers officially challenged the team One-Way for the first game. It was an unscheduled game but it will, by their consent prior to the game, be recorded as a win and loss for this season.

In the first and second set, No-Way dominated the Ghasias Brothers handing them two solid defeats 15 to 2 and 15 to 9. But, the Ghasas Brothers have always been a worthy opponent and came back in the third and fourth set winning 16 to 3 and 17 to 14.

At the end of four sets of play, team One-way had scored the most points but failed to juice out by losing the fourth set; in Rocball, a team can not win a game in a losing set regardless of the score.

The Ghasias Brothers won the fourth set with the least amount of game points scored and forced the game into overtime.

In overtime, the team with the most game points scored but lost the fourth set, is required to win one overtime set. The team that won the fourth set with the least amount of game points scored needs to win two overtime sets to win the game.

A Rocball overtime set is ten points or a goal, whichever comes first. But, One-Way had it their way. One-Way scored off the Ghasias Brothers opening serve and ran the overtime set out scunking the Brothers 11 to 0.

In all, there were 14 aces, 1 skunk, 15 kess, and 2 goals scored. Ben Pelisamen of the Ghasias Brothers was the game’s heavy hitter with 1 ace, 6 kees, and 1 goal for 17 points. But, team OneWay was the team that scored most of the heavy scores with 8 two point aces, xunk, and kees. This Saturday, Oct 31st, from 4 to 8 pm, thr Fanians vs. Soul Rebels, CPC vs. No-Name, No-Mercy vs. One-Way, the Kagman Projects will play either the CPC or No-Name, making it a double hitter for one of those teams. And the Islanders and Ghasias Brothers will play Thursday night 6 o’clock pm.
