THE Aimeliik Bat Boys notched their second consecutive victory in the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League by pulling a late-game rally against Taotaomona, 24-14, at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.
Taotaomona entered the top of the first inning swinging as the second and first bases were filled by the first two at bat, Vince Repeki and Jack Cepeda. Aimeliik bagged two consecutive outs, but the runners were brought home safely by Stan Aldan and Nate Torres recording a RBI single and RBI double, respectively.
Taotaomona’s lead was extended further as two of its runners rounded the bases with the help of pitcher Henry Reyes, who connected a three-run homer for a comfortable 5-0 lead.
Aimeliik scored a single run in the bottom half, but Taotaomona continued to gain the distance by adding six more runs in the second adding while Aimeliik could deliver two runs only in the bottom half to trail, 3-11.
Despite Taotaomona’s strong start, Aimeliik suddenly turned the tables in the third inning with better field coverage, allowing only one run to slip by. They then scored nine runs that were highlighted by five homeruns for the first deadlock of the game, 12-12.
Taotaomona attempted to regain the upper hand with two runs scored in the top of the fourth, but Aimeliik responded with three runs to grasp a slight advantage, 15-14.
Toataomona went silent in the next two innings while Aimeliik kept swinging with Lamarc Iguel connecting a two-run homer followed by a solo homer by Marwin Leemarvin in the bottom of the fifth. Six more runs were added in the sixth led by Darion Jones’ three-run homer to seal the deal for Aimeliik with only six innings played, 24-14.
