All schools swimming championship set for Nov. 6

The Saipan Swim club will open the one-day tournament to private and public schools.

There will be a competition in the elementary division, junior high division, and high school division.

All Participants are required to be able to swim at least 50 meters as a prerequisite to join because the events will start from 50 meters to 400 meters and will cover all four strokes of swimming which are the free style, backstroke, breaststroke, and the butterfly.

In the elementary division, there will be two groups; male and female 9 years old and under, and the 10 years old and above category.

The high school category will also have two competitions for males and females.

The junior high school will be allowed to have their sixth graders swim in either elementary or junior high, but the entire grade must be in the same category.

A strict rule of each swimmer can only join two individual events and one relay will be imposed on the day of competition.

Only the Top 2 swimmers per school will be awarded points in the individual events and the top team per school for a relay.

Ribbons will be awarded to the top finishers in each event while trophies will be awarded to the champion schools in the various divisions.

Interested and already participating schools should assign one coach and two adults as timers.

The events listing will be available by October 22, 2010 and interested schools have until October 29, 2010 to submit their entries.

In the past years Whispering Palms, Saipan International School, and Saipan Community School dominated the All Schools tournament.
