(HANMI) — “We’re all set!” Tournament Committee Chairman William Retardo reports this Saturday’s (Aug. 9) 23rd Annual HANMI Charity Classic Golf Tournament is ready for its shotgun start at 7 a.m. at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort in Saipan, The Marianas, with all the favorite tournament touches…and a few treats.

“A great day of golf for a good cause, that’s always been the HANMI tournament promise, and that’s our goal again this year,” said Retardo.  “Just like hotel services, it’s the small touches that add up to a great experience, and we hope all our players feel our appreciation and enjoy their day on Saturday.”

This year’s tournament has received approximately $15,000 in raffle prizes, on top of several lucrative hole-in-one prizes, services, and other in-kind donations for the course, banquet, ditty bags and other needs.  Raffle prizes include a roundtrip ticket for Saipan-Incheon on Jeju Air and T’way, a Samsung S24 Ultra 512 GB, split-type and window air-conditioners, hotel night stays, buffets, store gift certificates, wine, golf rounds, and more — including a live piglet.

“Coincidentally and for the first time, the tournament will also feature a silent auction…we’ll be accepting bids for a nice pig roaster made and donated by Northern Marianas Technical Institute,” said Retardo.  “Good luck to our barbecue masters slash golfers on that, and once again, a big thank you for our sponsors!”

The committee also acknowledged its cash sponsors, including: AON/AB Risk Solutions, Aqua Resort Club Saipan, Artman Trash & Recycling. Bridge Capital LLC, Burger Comer, Century Hotel, Chung Gi Wa Restaurant, Chung Nam Corp., Coral Ocean Golf Resort, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, Docomo Pacific, First Alarm Company, First Hawaiian Bank, Genpro International, Grandvrio Resort Saipan, Hana tour, IP&E Shell Marianas, Island Training Solutions, J’s Restaurant, K.L Carr Enterprises INC., Kensington Hotel Saipan, Korea Hardware, Marianas Visitors Authority, Pacific Engineering, Pacific Eco Laundry, Pacific Islands Club, Armatech, Saipan World Resort, Take Care, The Place Eatery & Bar, Winners Gas, Wushin Corporation, Y.K Corporation, Yaong Corporation, Five Star Builders, Protech Pest Control Services, and Yes Tour.

A portion of this year’s proceeds will benefit the Commonwealth Cancer Association. The tournament fee includes an awards banquet at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort immediately following the tournament.  Optional play for $30 will include Accurate Drive (Hole #1), Aggressive Drive (#12) and four chances for Nearest to the Pin (Holes #3, #7, #13, and #17). Showtime is 6 a.m.

This year’s hole-in-one prizes include a 2026 Kia Sportage from Joeten Motors on Hole #13, a 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz SE from Triple J Motors on Hole #3, a 2025 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 TRD from AK Toyota on Hole # 17, $5,000 cash from Pacifica Insurance and $5,000 cash from MARPAC also on Hole #7.
