Angeles, Omechelang are king/queen of the lanes

Angeles edged his way to first place after beating second place winner Richard Leong by a mere five pin falls.

Angeles’ winning pin fall total was 808 with a 202 average, while Leong finished with 803 pin falls and an average of 200.75.

Omechelang on the other hand, clearly separated herself from the crowd in the ladies’ division. She dominated her fellow players after pulling off the highest scores in days one and two of the tournament.

Omechelang reached her peak in day one last Sunday, totaling her pin falls to 665 with an average of 166.25. She later resulted with 659 pin falls in day two, where she was trailed by July’s Queen of the Lanes, Ron Cal, who had a total of 640 pin falls and an average of 160.

Angeles had to push his way to first place, having to get through third place winner Simon Manacop and Raymond Zapanta.

Manacop topped game one with 223 pin falls, and Zapanta topped game four with 207 – it was Angeles’ 279 pin falls in game two that gave him the advantage that night.

Angeles was awarded $70 for winning first place, while Omechelang received $60.

Richard Leong received $30, and Manacop received $20 for reaching third place.

In the ladies’ division, Cal Ron was awarded $25. Soll Elena and Yho Villavicencio divided the $20 prize after tying with each other for third place.

Both Elena and Villavicencio achieved 622 pin falls and an average of 155.5. Elena came out victorious in games one and two, but Villavicencio fiercely caught up in game three with 161 pin falls. Both players later tied 158-158 in the final game.

The Saipan Bowling Association now looks forward to next month’s King and Queen of the Lanes, which will be held on September 12 and 13 at Saipan Bowling Center.
