Second baseman Dave Camacho hit a run-scoring single to save the Angels, 2-1 in 12 innings and close the series with a 3-1 win-loss record.
The Brewers avoided a shutout in the bottom of the ninth on Asap Wabol’s sacrifice fly and nearly took the 10th inning with Manny Sablan on third base.
Relief pitcher Franco Flores held them down just in time for Camacho’s RBI.
“Our pitcher (Thomas Joab) took us all the way then Franco came in, did his job, and closed it up,” said Angels head coach Craig Sanchez after the game. “We held them up in the extra innings then shot them down.”
Brewers’ Harry Nakamura took over Tony Rogolifoi on the mound in the top of the 12th, but it was all over.
Jesus Iguel had earlier bagged the Angels’ first run on an error in the top of the first. Rogolifoi struck out five and pitched eight scoreless innings before tying the game, 1-1. Joab pitched nine innings with one K and allowed one run on four hits.
“They got power and speed,” said Sanchez. “We both lacked in pitching because we both had three pitchers only. In a best-of-five, that’s hard.”
The Brewers dominated, 9-4 to take game one last Monday. The Angels fired back with 13-4 and 9-7 wins in games two and three, respectively.
Top players recognized
Sanchez’s late-game quarrel with the umpire led to an ejection, but that didn’t stop him from clinching the Coach of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Joab received the Finals MVP award. Iguel was the runs champion with 20 runs. Jess Mesa, Nunu Kapileo, Eli Aughenbaugh, John Reyes, and Chris Camacho tied for the triples title with two apiece. Masters’ Greg Camacho was the home run champion with two homers.
The ERA and strikeout champs were Franco Flores and Elton Santos, respectively. Both Iguel and Fielders’ Ryan Ada won the Golden Glove award, Manny Sablan was the Catcher of the Year, Franco was the Pitcher of the Year, and John Flores was the Manager of the Year.
The Angels also secured the pennant title with nine wins and two losses during regular season. The Shell Fielders were the pennant runner-ups with eight wins and three losses.
