ANNE Lee claimed the U14 girls singles and doubles titles of the 2024 North Pacific Regional Championship on Saturday at American Memorial Park.

She continues to follow in her sister’s footsteps, CNMI-born collegiate tennis player Carol Lee, dominating the U14 girls singles event with an undefeated record against a competition that included players from Guam and Palau.

Anne Lee was laser focused as she took down Guam’s Rachel Augustin in two sets, 6-0, 6-1.  Against her second opponent, Guam’s Leah Augustin, Anne Lee was again dominant, winning 6-1, 6-0, to secure her spot in the finals.

Guam’s Faith Perera proved to be Anne Lee’s toughest opponent, but she still controlled the pace and eventually overwhelmed Perera, 6-1, 6-1, to claim the U14 girls title.

Anne Lee claimed her second title in the U14 girls doubles event with the help of Lina Tsukagoshi.

The CNMI pair first went up against Guam’s Lana Noble and Emely Rasorio and triumphed, 6-0, 6-1. In the semifinals, the CNMI duo started to show some chinks in their armor against Nauru’s Esther Itaia and Shaneva Stephen, but they emerged victorious in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.

In the finals against another CNMI pair, Vivian Chung and Jenna Pascual, Lee and Tsukagoshi performed flawlessly, 6-0, 6-0.

Also winning two titles was the CNMI’s Nason Wessel.

He claimed the U16 boys singles title by defeating Guam’s Loenardo Tamandong, 6-1, 6-2,  the CNMI’s Henry Choi, 6-2, 6-3, and Si Woo Lee, also of the CNMI, in the finals, 6-3, 6-1.

With Si Woo Lee, Wessel then added the U16 Boys doubles title to his collection.

After advancing past the quarterfinals, the duo bested Guam’s Oliver Schaumann and Leonardo Tamandong, 6-0, 6-2, and another CNMI pair, Henry Choi and June Yu, 6-3, 6-3, in the finals.
