Aqua Resort leads Tinian invitational caging

Now leading the seven-team tournament, Aqua Resort has started counting weekend awards for best player of the game who is chosen right after each game.

Johannes who scored 10 points but lifted Aqua Resort with relentless defense was last Monday’s best player.

Gapor who started slow in the first quarter accelerated in the rest of the game basketing 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter including four free throws for their 100-98 victory.

James Camacho exploded from behind the arc for his two three-pointer for an early lead in the first quarter. He kept investing from easy two points in the second before turning over the task to Gapor and Estolas midway to the fourth.

Jhun Estolas put Hyatt’s Jericho Cruz and Bruce Berline in foul trouble to add six free throws to his 16 points including a three-pointer in the second quarter. He finished with a total of 22 points.

With Chris Arreza getting hot from the rainbow territory as he fired four of his six three-pointers in the final quarter helped Hyatt Regency close the gap in the second half of the game, 74-71.

Jericho Cruz also scattered 26 points to prevent the lead stretch wider.

Time ran out however, as Johanes continued his defensive stance while Gapor and Estolas went on with their scoring spree.

Tinian Dynasty 105, PIC 91

Ringo Reyes made himself deserving of the coveted best player of the game award by scoring 33 points to lead Tinian Dynasty beat Pacific Island Club, 105-91.

The host team that lost to World Resort in the opening game claimed the victory by having all its players see action.

Noel Sabordo scored 19 of 24 points in the final quarter to back Reyes up while Charlie Fernandez stunned everybody with his three-pointer.

RJ Reyes scored added 11 points.

Pacific Island Club was warned of delaying the game in the third quarter. Ryan Sanciangco who played consistently from the first quarter finished with 22 points while Darwin Barbo chipped in 19 points as they both tried a narrow escape from a second loss.
