During their first encounter MBI-Right Guard grabbed the lead from Armatech with Pete Iguel banking in 11 points and teammate Ivan De Vero sealing the victory with his 6 points for the first quarter.
De Vero and Iguel managed to pocket a 7 point lead by the time the siren rang to seal the first quarter shut.
Right Guard’s Rex Yabut jumped into the band wagon and clocked in 6 points making sure his team had a firm grip of the driver’s seat. Yabut was able to keep the secure 7 point lead by the end of the first half of the game.
With Armatech’s coach and team player Elmer Esdrelon devising offense tactics, team players Esdrelon, Peter Mendiola, and Mel Manibusan, Armatech was able to close the gap to 3 points by the end of the third quarter.
The game got feisty in the last ten minutes of the game, as both teams started fouling their opponents in their anticipation to move on to the championship round.
Armatech was short by one point 71-70 with three minutes left in the game. Peter Mendiola was fouled by one of Right Guard’s defense giving him to charity shot opportunities.
Mendiola did not take these shots lightly and was able to sink the first one in successfully tying both teams 71 all causing uproar within the crowd and happy cheers from the Armatech’s bench. Mendiola collars the second charity shot successfully also yanking the lead from the Right Guards defensively.
There were a couple of technical errors due to the table officials lack of weariness during the game, but the league managers and commissioner decided to send the game into sudden death after deciding that the score was 80 points all.
Last week Sunday determined that Armatech was the better of the two therefore pushing them forward to the Championship round.
At the opening of the over time game, both teams tied at 87 points all with Right Guard’s Ivan De Vero being fouled and sinking only one charity to take the feeble one point lead over team Armatech. Esdrelon was given the ball by mistake and was able to collar a successful jump shot to secure the win away from MBI-Right Guard.
