“We find the Rota people friendly and beautiful and the food delicious,” Onishi said. “Rota’s Blue Triathlon is unique in all of Micronesia. We look forward to coming down every year for this wonderful event.”
According to Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola, the event benefits everyone in Rota, especially the business community. He is urging the people of Rota to “come out and support it,” noting that a majority of the triathletes show interest in returning.
“Participation increases yearly because of the friendly environment the people of Rota create for our visitors,” Mendiola said. “Rota is beginning to enjoy some notoriety as a prime travel destination.”
The annual triathlon is made possible through the generous assistance of the KFC, Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA), the Rota Mayor’s Office and the good people of Rota.
