He said in an interview yesterday that he will join the marathon in the 2009 Winter Festival of Runs on Saturday.
Babauta declined to talk about his political plan for now, and rather wants to inform the public that he is running in the marathon event.
Hosted by Marianas Visitors Authority, the event includes marathon, half-marathon, and 10-kilometer run from Microbeach to Marpi.
“I’ve been running on a regular basis for many years now,” he said.
A Republican, Babauta said he always wanted to run in the marathon and the Winter Festival is his opportunity to make this a reality.
The registration fee after Jan. 9 will $45 for Saipan Marathon and $35 for half-marathon and 10-K run.
The last day of registration will be Friday, Jan. 16., from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the race orientation and carbo pasta dinner at American Memorial Park.
No entries will be accepted the day of the race. Registration forms are available at the MVA office on Beach Rd. in Oleai and additional race information is available at www.mymarianas.com or by calling 1.670.664.3200.
