BANMI calls time-out on Rotary caging

BANMI president and development officer, Elias Rangamar is calling a mandatory meeting with all the coaches on Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference room.

Rangamar said in an interview yesterday he needs to sit down with the coaches of the participating team once again to evaluate the ongoing league that started almost two months ago.

He said he saw this need after observing some flaws that league officials and the other people concerned have been encountering in the past few weeks now.

In an email prior to yesterday’s interview, the sports development officer said there are teams that are violating some ground rules ranging from uniform to punctuality. There are also teams that have not yet submitted proper documents for each players; identifications and entry fees, he added.

Rangamar added that in some games he watched he saw indications that basketball was not being taken seriously. Instructions from the bench seemed devoted only to substitute players and so little to set up plays or strategies.

These cracks, he said threaten the very objective of the league which the islands’ basketball organization is expecting to be competitive in a hope to discover and develop potential teams for future off-island competitions.

Rangamar said these lapses have to be corrected promptly, and while doing that, the league has to be postponed indefinitely.

As last week, the G-Stars remain undefeated to lead the standings, followed by the Sonics and the Sixers who have already played six games.
