Catcher Robert Banzil scored the D-9ers’ winning run at the bottom of the 10th inning, following a single from John Tenorio. Banzil reached the second and third base via fielder’s choice.
The D-9ers scored their first two runs from Frank Ruberto and Larry Roberts. Ruberto struck his first single before being sent home by Roberts’ double. Roberts stole to the scoring position and reached the home plate on an error.
Jack Sablan and Chris Camacho continued with two more runs at the bottom of the fifth thanks to Banzil’s double. Banzil lifted the D-9ers to 5-0 on an error from Fielders’ Ryan Ada.
The Fielders held on through six scoreless innings and advanced in the top of the seventh. Ionis Rasa hit his second single and ran to the scoring position on an error from Co Atalig. Ryan Ada struck another single to send him home. In almost no time, Ada scored the Fielders’ second run of the evening.
The D-9ers – still ahead, 5-4 – tallied three more runs in the bottom of the seventh from Sablan, Camacho, and Banzil.
Continuing their late-game surge, the Fielders caught up, 8-7 at the top of the eighth. By the ninth inning, Tenorio reached the first base via single.
He eventually tied the game, 8-8 on an error from Ruberto.
D-9ers’ Banzil went 3-for-6 with two RBI doubles.
Masters 6, Ol’ Aces 5
Meanwhile, team Ol’ Aces fell to the Masters, 6-5 in last Wednesday’s game. The Masters piled four runs early in the second inning, with the first coming from Harlan Reyes.
Reyes walked to first on a base-on-ball and arrived at second via pass ball. Jordan Reyes sent him home on a single before stealing for the home base. Bob O’Connor also reached first base on an error by Ol’ Aces’ first baseman John Aguon. He sprinted to the second base on Justin Reyes’ single and reached the home plate thanks to Mabel N.
The Ol’ Aces held on, 5-3 by the bottom of the fifth inning. They added two runs from Niko Martin and Delbart Aguon but failed to catch up after three consecutive fly balls in the bottom of the ninth.
The Masters added one run in the fifth from Greg Camacho and another from Mabel N. at the top of the ninth.
