WITH the 2025 Allied Pacific Environmental Corporation Basketball League drawing near, a newly formed women’s basketball team from Kagman — the Beachfront Ballers — are looking to make waves.
“I’m truly excited to lead the Beachfront Ballers,” Coach Nadia Murphy said. “Our village has immense talent, and I believe it’s time we showcase it on the basketball court. Starting this club is not just about the sport for me; it’s about creating an opportunity for women of all ages in our community to come together, develop their skills, and grow in a supportive environment.”
Murphy believes that basketball “has the power to inspire, unite, and empower. We may not have had much happening up here in the past, but I envision a future where the Beachfront Ballers aren’t just a local club, but a proud representative of women’s sports in the north. We aim to build a strong foundation, focusing not only on competitive play but also on fostering a sense of community, confidence, and leadership among our players.”
Murphy encourages everyone in the north to support the Beachfront Ballers and join them on their journey.
“Together, we can make a difference, raise awareness, and inspire the next generation of female athletes. Let’s bring back women’s basketball,” Murphy said.
