Trench Tech’s Ronald Chisato will have his sixth fight on Aug. 2 and he will be facing Lionel Borja.
He said he consider the Predator or Prey his “come back fight.”
Chisato who has been in MMA for more than three years and still consider himself as a student failed to fight in Trench Warz 8 due a rib injury he sustained in training.
The 32-year-old neophyte who had dreamed of fighting in the cage since he watched Royce Gracie fight during his teenage years, said he had to give it another year before he could fight again.
“If you get hurt in the training, that mean you’re training hard,” Chisato said but admitted learning a lesson to train just enough not to hurt himself especially if he’s looking forward to a coming event.
Chisato got an interest in MMA when he watched the Trench Warz I. When he saw a friend fought in Trench Warz II his interest grew so high that he wanted to fight also.
“If my friend could have done it, why couldn’t I?” Chisato recalled telling himself that time.
So he begged Trench Tech’s Cuki Alvarez to allow him to fight. Unequipped with skills and enough training, went to the cage and lost his very first fight.
The was the time he started training in Trench Tech, spending much of his time learning from Alvarez. It him a year and a dozen of pounds before he could get what it takes to be real MMA fighter.
He said wanted to specialize on stand up fight. He wants to knock out an opponent.
When Trench Tech held Rites of Passage II in 2006, Chisato recalled there was considerable amount of confidence when he came to the cage again.
“You will feel very confident especially when there are the corner men around,” he said.
Chisato won a fight for the first time. He defeated Ed Santos via tap out.
He won again in his third fight that came up month later, beating Martin Castor via referee stoppage.
“That was the fight I was able to apply what I learned,” he said and it included the ground fight for which he thanks Alvarez and Kato and Joe Ocampo for teaching him.
As he kept practicing for the Predator or Prey, Chisato said he still consider himself a student. However he will take this coming fight as another chance apply what he continuously learns from his mentors.
Chisato, however still can not forget how he got his first victory.
“It was a stand up fight. My opponent could not defend himself anymore so the referee stopped the fight,” Chisato narrated as if he was trying to establish his own identify and style in MMA fights.
