BoG took their lesson from their debut loss to Docomo almost a month ago and two more straight losses that followed so they made sure Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting would stay far behind right from the first quarter.
David Palacios fired the first twin two-pointers and blasted a three point shots while Jawn Joyner chipped in six points. Gus Palacios also basketed a three-pointer to help BoG secure 10 points lead.
BoG’s defense limited ARFF’s scoring hands to Jerome Reyes and Joseph Aldan who scored six and two points in the first half respectively.
Charlie Peters and Pete Iguel picked up where Joyner left off. Reyes hit five markers while Iguel rampaged with eight points to maintain the lead in the second quarter.
Iguel picked up fouls and basketed his two free throws and playing coach Dexter Mendiola added six points in this canto to help BoG stay ahead with 10 points.
He and Joyner continued the surge in the fourth quarter. He fired 10 shots including the two final two-pointers and Joyner blasted from behind the arc and added seven more points.
Randy Pelisamen who scored only four points in the first quarter returned to the court and sizzled with six more baskets in the last few minutes of the final quarter leading to BoG’s 91-79 victory.
PSS 64, CHC 59
Maverick Itibus did not see enough action in the first half and third quarter but gave Commonwealth Health Center a hard time in the final minute of the fourth quarter leading to PSS 64-59 victory.
PSS was just a point away in the end of the first quarter so CHC’s Edgar Pangelinan and Samson Fernandez led CHC to bounce back and enjoyed a two-point lead in the half time. Pangelinan hit tripled two times and tallied 12 points in the first half.
However, CHC center, Joe Tudela scored only two points.
Peter Mendiola and Bobby Coldeen took turns in pounding CHC and regained the lead for PSS in the third quarter.
With Patrick Guerrero backing them up, Mendiola and Coldeen helped stretch the lead leading to PSS third win.
