Buttsss edges Battay, 66-62

With the finals nearing this week, Ira Palero ensured she’d go out with a bang after scoring 32 points.

Despite a final rally from Elilai Pialug and Charlene Lizardo, Aye Par’s Jaime Mendoza eked out 14 of her 25 points in the second half.

Palero and Marie Javier ruled the opening 10 minutes, blasting easy jumpers. Their combined 24 points left the Buttsss only one point behind in the first half, in addition to Rielel David’s field goal.

Posting an early four points, Aye Par Battay’s Vanessa Bartolo went scoreless in the second half as Mendoza and Mae Ito led the team’s offensive. Nicole Arborilas pulled through on a three-pointer for a 13 total.

Pialug however, nailed another three-pointer in the last three minutes and Marie Javier capped off on a layup. Palero dominated once more on 19 more points with back-to-back assists from Javier and Lizardo.

Mendoza, time pressured, hoped to spark momentum with two shots past the Buttsss. She and Ito ended the night with 25 and 13 points, respectively.

Mendoza had earlier scored one of the Battays’ two three-pointers near the end of the first half.

Joining both teams in this week’s final series of games are the Mix-A-Lots and Party Rockers.
