Cadagat scores 31, Prospects advance to UBA semis

A well-laid plan putting center Chris Paul in different scoring spots almost succeeded in the first quarter, had

it not been to Joseph Villacrusis who fired from outside the three-point line and Peter Mendiola who completed a three-point play after picking up a foul from one of his under-the-goal lay ups for the Hoopaholics.

Smelling victory at the end of the first period, the Hoopaholics went more aggressive in the second quarter but ended up investing most on bonus shots.

Cadagat started their second quarter with a three and went on carrying the squad by firing two consecutive two-pointers to help the Prospects close-in.

He tied the ball game with a three from the left side of the court. The Hoopaholics had a turn-over and Cadagat did not waste the chance to take the lead by hitting another three-point shot, and from a six-point deficit, the Prospects rallied to gain the upper ground.

Villacrusis and Melvin Manibusan went into scoring surge as the Hoopaholics mounted the attack in the fourth quarter to tighten up the game again.

Derrrick Aughenbaugh however, surged as well, completing offensive rebounds with 12 points in the entire second half.

With 12 seconds left in

the ball game, the Hoopaholics needed a three-point play to move the game into over time but Aughenbaugh who had been helping clamp down the defense with his rebounds secured the ball again, and the Prospects only had to kill the time and went on to take a glimpse of the UBA finals.
