Calendar of events for Tagaman Saipan

The Tagaman Championship registration polls will be located at the Pacific Islands Club’s main lobby. All registrations are to be submitted here as well. Registration on Friday, March 18, 2011 will start at 3 pm and close at 5pm.

Following the registration will be the Tagaman Carbo dinner. The restaurant is to be announced at a later date but the location is still at the Pacific Islands Club starting at 6pm.

On the day of the race, Saturday March 19, 2011, the final check in and numbering will start at 4 am and will be open until 5:30 am. The Tagaman competition, a well organized race gives competitors an opportunity to see the vast majority of Saipan, will be composed of the 2K swim which starts at the beautiful Pacifica Islands Club Saipan, followed by the 60K bike taking competitors all the way north to Bird Island and finally the 15K Run starts and Finishes at Micro Beach!. The race will start at 6 am.

Following the Tagaman Competition is the Tagakids which is composed of three different course routes; there is a distance for all ages. The Tagakids competition will start off at 7 am.

When all is said and done, the Tagaman post race awards banquet will kick off at 6 pm and this coming 2011’s theme for the banquet will be Pirates.

On Sunday, March 20, 2011 the traditional Tagaman post race BBQ will be held at the Obyan beach starting at 1 pm.

There are several suggested sporting events for all interested participants of the 2011 Tagaman Saipan competition before the event.

There will be the Saipan Hash House Harriers which will be a great way to explore the jungles of Saipan.  Hashing is a popular activity held every Saturday afternoon.  Hares (the people that set the trail and get a 10 minute head start) prepare a running trail through the boonies and Hounds (the people that follow the special trail markings) try and get to the On Home as quickly as possible.

There will also be Sports Clinics. Hear what the pro’s have to say about their training techniques, how they prepare for a race, and equipment preparation.  These informative sessions are free. Along with the sessions will be the Tank 2 Tank Swims. Enjoy the famous tank 2 tank swim.  This is a 1.3K swim using the World War II tanks as its buoy markers.

There will also be a Tour De Saipan.

This one stage recovery ride takes riders to all the historical sites on Saipan’s northern beaches.  The 2-hour tour includes stops at Last Command Post, the Banzai Cliffs, The Grotto (for a once in a life time cave swim) and a scenic view of Bird Island.
