Choi hands WPS 7th JV win vs. Knights

Despite having a home-court advantage, the Knights slowly burned down in the defense and fell, 15-9 in their final set.

WPS’ Tommy Choi — a former student from defending champion Saipan Community School — secured the game on a left-handed return to Amalina Evangelista.

WPS claimed set one, 25-21 after clearing a three-point deficit in the first eight minutes. Returning players Negahr Rastguiy and Danny Auther easily returned spikes from TJ Dela Cruz, while teammate Colin Ramsey offered support against MCS’ Quinn Amog.

The Knights put up a fight in the second set, taking an 18-15 lead and closing off with a 25-23 victory. Mount Carmel called a time out to regroup in set three but was two points away from collapsing.

The dominant WPS has only tallied one loss since falling to Grace Christian Academy.

Both varsity and junior varsity leagues just started their second half of the regular season, with four other games played yesterday at Saipan International School, Seventh Day Adventist, Agape Christian School, and Northern Marianas Academy.

Results from other schools weren’t available during press time.

WPS has seven games left before the junior varsity playoff starts on October 31.
