CHOJU and Savemore are the first two teams to enter the final four in season 2 of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League after eliminating their opponents at the TSL Sports Complex on Saturday night.
The still undefeated Choju was an unstoppable force as they dismantled Lamesa Kusina, 97-72.
In the first 10 minutes of the game, both teams exchanged buckets. Lamesa Kusina drew first blood with Albert Agustin connecting the first shot followed by a jumper by Web Gontar. Choju answered with two buckets by Jay Art Palmes while Henry Aguon connected a triple to close the gap.
The seesaw battle continued but the defensive pressure of Choju started to work in their favor with a handful of stops that were turned into offensive finishes on the other end. Palmes and Aguon continued to deliver while Kaipo Dikito and Gerald Mamis added triples to further extend the deficit, 51-36.
During the second half, Lamesa Kusina started to find their chemistry on the defensive end with better coverages and transition plays. Francisco Gutierrez and Gontar led the onslaught with an all-around performance. But Choju matched up on the scoreboard with Aguon scoring 10 consecutive points while Palmes took over during the last 10 minutes of the game with 11 points — including a three-pointer — as his team triumphed with ease, 97-72.
Savemore vs Kagbros
The second spot in the final four was claimed by the underdog Savemore, which upset the Kagbros, 64-58.
Savemore had an explosive start with Getsen Jandoc and Mark Malinay connecting back-to-back triples, but it was the set pace that kept them in control at the end of the first half, 37-30.
The Kagbros fought back but could not find the momentum needed for a rally, and had to settle for defeat, 58-64.
