COVMS II snaps HOP II’s streak in volleyball

CHACHA Ocean View Middle School II snapped the win streak of  Hopwood Middle School II on Thursday in the girls middle school division of the PSS-NMIVA Interscholastic Volleyball League SY23-24 at the Marianas High School gym.

COVMS II — which consisted of Megan Hocog, Kimani Santos, Veghani Babauta, Autumn Herman, Tsubomiko Joab, Shyann Kisa, Alaynah Norita and Savannah Sablan — controlled the opening set using teamwork as they properly covered their end of the court and unleashed spike finishes.

HOP II played well but lacked execution which led to errors and a double-digit COVMS win, 21-11.

The second quarter was no different as COVMS continued their dominance.

With each error made by HOP II, COVMS pulled further away and eventually claimed the second set, 21-10, to win the match.

Before their loss, HOP II defeated Dandan Middle School II, 16-21, 21-12, 15-11, and Saipan International School II, 21-1, 21-7.

COVMS II, for its part, was outlasted by Francisco M. Sablan Middle School II, which won, 21-17, 15-21, 12-15.

Joining the winner’s circle on Thursday were Tanapag Middle School II, which trounced SIS II, 21-12, 21-12; FMS II, which edged DMS II, 21-19, 13-21, 18-16; HOP, which conquered TMS, 21-16, 18-21, 15-12; Grace Christian Academy School, which demolished Saipan Community School, 21-4, 21-5; and SIS which bested FMS, 21-7, 21-15.
