The August club race featured three events: the 1/10 Electric Short Course Stock and Open Classes and the 1/8 Nitro Truggy Class.
The monthly racing event saw Jude Dickinson sweep the 1/10 Electric Short Course Class after he was the deemed the top qualifier and placing first in both the Stock and Open classes again with his Traxxas SLASH race car.
Placing second in the Stock Class was Paul Salalila, who raced his Kyosho SC-R ULTIMA.
Event coordinator Rodney Catalla bagged third in the event with his Traxxas SLASH.
In the Open Class, behind Dickinson was Leo Gatus who took second with his Traxxas SLASH. Catalla placed third in this event as well.
After third place finishes in both classes of the 1/10 Electric Short Course, Catalla dominated his field in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy Class by being the top qualifier and placing first. He raced for Team Associated with a RC8T.
Rommel Isidro placed second in the event, while Jojo Saracho finished third. They both raced with a Mugen MBX5T.
Event coordinator Catalla says he encourages the general public to watch the remote control races at the As Lito Race Track or take up what he calls a “healthy hobby.”
“This hobby is very big in the U.S. and in the Philippines. People involved in this ‘RC hobby’ usually work on various vehicles such as cars, trucks, boats, and planes and they are usually in ‘ready-to-build’ kits. In our club, we focus mostly on off-road trucks,” Catalla told Variety yesterday.
The SRCR offers assistance to RC beginners and enthusiasts, who want to try something new or have a passion for racing.
The club has practices every Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. and has their races every month on a Sunday at the As Lito Race Track.
