The Ebisuya cagers ran short of picking up the slack in the second round as Ray Lizama and Edgar Pangelinan led Easy Does It’s blow out victory.
Ebisuya’s Jun Tabora put up a good fight in the first half after hitting several successive baskets and piling up 16 points.
Edwin Santos also picked up the slack with a free throw, followed by a quick rebound and three-pointer by George Masga.
On the other side of the court, Easy Does It’s Bruce Berline tossed in six points early in the game.
The ball was well balanced among EDI’s players during their offensive play, allowing Edgar Pangelinan to score two markers behind the three point line and Rey Lizama to fire several lay ups. Lizama was later fouled, allowing him two free throws.
By the second half, both teams were trading baskets. Dave Demapan and Pangelinan fired three-pointers. Santos’ free throw tied the game, 77-77.
But EDIs, Lizama pounded an extra shot, giving them another two point lead right before the game ended.
Top 40s 99, The Board 61
Since their past game on Friday, the Board was once again defeated by the Top 40s.
As the leading scorers for the Top 40s, Jack Diaz and George Masga’s combined score of 65 points helped secure their victory.
The Board’s Edgar Pangelinan started strong with four undefended three pointers in the first half. After their shooting spree, the Board had no choice but to focus on the defense.
Aside from Diaz and Masga, Elmer Pineda caught his chance to slip behind the Board’s defenders and sneak three baskets.
By the end of the first half, the Top 40s were able to gain a 16-point lead. They tried go on pacing with the Board with key players in the offensive – Pineda, Diaz, and Masga.
Hoping to turn the game around, Eric Atalig tries to steal passes from the Top 40s. He was successful in driving the ball twice towards the basket but gets caught by a Top 40 player on his third try.
Meanwhile, Masga diverts his opponents toward him, giving Oscar Masga some time alone in the corner of the court. The ball is handed to Oscar and he makes a point. George follows up with a barrage of lay ups and three pointers, summing up the rest of the game.
