The camp is divided into three sessions each day, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
12 young strikers took part in yesterday’s activities, which focused on possession.
“We have a different theme each day. Yesterday, we focused on shooting, and we had dribbling last Tuesday,” said Peters in an interview. “We’ve been preparing since last fall.”
She is joined by FBBC’s Paul Speed, Sara and Rachel Worman, Laura Fowler, Kimmy Terlouw and coaches Mark Stupka and Lance Augsburger.
The team will leave tomorrow, with Peters staying on island for the rest of July.
Aside from the camp, they’ve also played a few practice games against the 15-and-under National Team heading for Taiwan and players from Shirley’s and Tan Holdings FC.
“We are eager to help these young soccer players increase their soccer skills. We also want to provide an opportunity for them to have fun playing soccer while learning some valuable truths,” Peters said in an email last month.
This is their first time to host a soccer camp on island and overseas.
It was Peters who recommended Saipan as their camp venue, with assistance from the Northern Marianas Islands Football Association.
The group may return next summer. Peters, who is also a former MP United Football Club coach, now coaches at FBBC.
