THE undefeated Falcons continue to dominate the 2024 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League by shutting out the Blue Shark, 10-0, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Tuesday. It was the Falcons’ sixth consecutive win.
Their pitcher, Jonathan Norita, led the defensive end with a strong start as he allowed only one hit and one runner on base before his team shifted to the batter’s box.
In the bottom half, the Falcons applied continuous pressure, which disrupted the Blue Shark’s infield with a series of stolen bases that were eventually brought in by Giovanni Mira and Benen Iguel’s RBI single and two-RBI double, respectively, as the Falcons seized the lead, 3-0.
The Blue Shark remained in a slump as Norita struck out all three batters. The Falcons’ Ian Norita then joined the highlight reel recording the second two-RBI double while Mira contributed another RBI single to further stretch the deficit, 6-0.
In the top of the third inning, Jonathan Norita seemed to have lost his rhythm on the pitcher’s mound as he walked the first pitcher. But he recovered and struck out the next three batters. For his part, the Falcons’ DJ Omar earned an RBI single to squeeze in a single run in the bottom half for two more runs in the fourth inning.
Down 0-9 in the fifth inning, the Blue Shark nearly broke the silence with a runner on second and first for a possible scoring opportunity. However, with one out already in their pocket, Jonathan Norita struck out the next two batters to end all hope.
In the bottom half, Omar took advantage of an infield error to slip past home safely and end the game via the mercy rule, 10-0.
Jonathan Norita ended the night with nine strikeouts while Ian Norita led the offensive end going 4-3 at bat with two runs, two RBIs, and a double.
