The Falcons’ Jonathan Norita attempts to beat the tag as he rushes toward home plate for a scored run during a game against the Sandlot in the 2024 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
THE Falcons secured the no.1 spot going into the playoffs of the 2024 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League, and claimed the pennant after trouncing the White Sox, 14-3, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Monday.
The Falcons’ hunger for the title was seen right from the start as they drew first blood with first at bat, AJ Evangelista, capitalizing off repeated errors to make his way to second base. He was then brought home safely by Ian Norita, who earned an RBI single before the White Sox made a double play to turn over to the bottom half of the opening inning.
In the bottom half, the Falcons’ defense was highlighted by pitcher Jonathan Norita striking out the first two batters. Although he briefly lost touch, allowing a base on ball, he quickly recovered with his third strikeout.
The Falcons then added five more runs while the White Sox remained silent throughout the second inning.
The Falcons’ lineup continued to display impressive batting with hit after hit, but only one run was earned via an RBI single by DJ Omar while the other four runs were scored off errors to extend the deficit, 6-0.
The White Sox were not going down without a fight, however, as they finally started to build momentum in the third inning, thanks to Jesse Ramon’s single that brought in two runners before the third out was made.
The Falcons, however, scored six more runs highlighted by Tonchu Norita’s second triple of the game, which brought in two runners. He later made his way home to give his team a comfortable lead, 12-2.
While the White Sox fell back into silence, the Falcons notched two more runs to lead 14-2 after four complete innings.
The White Sox had one last chance to avoid the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning, but they were allowed one run only before the Falcons bagged the three outs needed to end the game early with only five innings played, 14-3.
In winning the pennant, the Falcons completed the regular season with a win-loss record of 9-1.
