THE Federals bagged their first win in the R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government/Business League by manhandling CUC, 65-49, Tuesday at the Ada gym.

The Federals had a rough start, but were given a handful of free shots attempts due to CUC’s aggressiveness on the defensive end.

CUC eventually found their groove on offense with Franco Nakamura and Frederick Dionisio at the frontline combining for 10 points to hold the lead, 16-12.

But CUC lost their touch in the second quarter as the Federals’ Terence Leung sizzled with 10 points to hand his team a two-point advantage.

CUC could only produce seven team points in the third canto while the Federals’ Leo Apelo took over the spotlight with 11 points to extend the deficit, 45-32.

In the fourth and final quarter, CUC recorded their biggest output of the night led by Trey Aikens and Dionisio. Unfortunately, their rally came a little too late as the Federals’ Apelo and Leung continued to finish at the rim en route to a double-digit victory, 65-49.

Priority Care vs CPA

Priority Care notched their second win of the season by edging CPA, 78-77.

CPA established dominance in the opening quarter with each player contributing to an offensive run. Frank Robert ignited the momentum with the first five points while Donovan Brennan followed up with back-to-back triples. David Camacho then delivered six straight points for a comfortable 19-10 lead.

However, CPA lost their mojo in the second period even as Priority Care’s Matthew Duenas and Marvin Rabauliman went into an offensive rampage, scoring eight points apiece to snatch the driver’s seat, 34-30.

A see-saw battle ensued in the second half with several lead exchanges, but in the end, Duenas and Steve King’s clutch three-pointer saved the day for Priority Care, 78-77.
