MBFNMI chairman Ray Lizama in a statement said the board of directors unanimously voted to dedicate its first men’s 35 and above Masters Basketball League to all the deceased players that made remarkable contributions in the development of basketball in the CNMI.
The organizers, coaches, managers, players and basketball fans will pay tribute as the Masters Basketball League 2010 will open in memory of CNMI Basketball players, Tom Barcinas of Saipan; Tony Borja Sr. of Tinian; George Benavente of Saipan; James Tanaka of Saipan; Pete Techur of Saipan; Nick Loste of Saipan; Ric Alegre of Saipan and Gerald Feritti of Saipan.
The MBFNMI is kindly asking family members to join Masters Basketball League opening on April 06, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym at 6 p.m.
The MBFNMI would like to inform the public that if you have any family member(s) who was a member of the basketball organizations, and want to be included please let us know before March 30.
Lizama added that MBFNMI is also still waiting for basketball groups in Rota to submit this list.
