FRANCISCO M. Sablan Middle School claimed the boys middle school division title of the PSS-NMIVA Interscholastic Volleyball League SY24-25 after defeating Tanapag Middle School in the championship match at the Marianas High School gym on Saturday.
FMS was in total control, starting with a one-set advantage for having gone through the preliminaries unscathed,
In the first set, FMS established the pace using teamwork to set up countless spike finishes. Timothy Espiritu, along with Vince Eusebio and Peter Santos, led the onslaught with several aces made from the serving line, forcing TMS to commit errors.
TMS fought back but continued to struggle, committing mistakes and unforced errors that allowed FMS to take the first set, 21-14.
In the next set, they pulled away en route to a dominant 21-9 victory and the championship.
Before the finals, FMS defeated Agape Christian School and Dandan Middle School.
FMS coach Jermaine Salas, along with co-coaches Erlwin Aguirre and Clarence Rodriguez, who are all substitute teachers at FMS, expressed their gratitude to their team.
“Winning the championship this year really showed me that we could depend on the boys of this team. I have high hopes for them — not just this season,” said Salas.
“It’s been more like a three-year journey,” Rodriguez said.
The coaches believe that the games throughout the tournament were challenging, but they also practiced hard. The coaches played against the rest of the team during practice, which encouraged the boys to do better.
The FSM players are Jairus Pangilinan, Dezmon Camacho, Robert Villagomez, Jean Paul Reyes, Vince Eusebio, Timothy Espiritu, Peter Santos, Germaya Sellem, Aiden Gimed, Dean Aldan, Anthony Aldan, Petler Fred, Tommy Moses, and Roque Pangilinan.
