2004 Saipan Little League Major All Stars pitcher, Justin Alexander who is now Webb School of Knoxville senior pitcher/outfielder has recently committed to continue his baseball career at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville.

Webb School, according to Cathy Dowhos-O’Gorman, associate director of Communications, hosted a celebration for Alexander last Nov. 17 at the Webb’s Lee Athletic Center.

Alexander has been a four-year starter for the Spartan varsity baseball team and has been a mainstay for Webb in the outfield and on the mound, says Webb School press statement emailed by O’Gorman to Variety.

The right-handed pitcher who helped Saipan Little League All Stars made it to the World Series in 2004 finished the 2009 season with a .360 batting average and 25 runs scored, 13 doubles, 1 triple, 3 homeruns, 18 RBIs, and 9 stolen bases.

In 57 innings pitched for the season, Alexander compiled a 3.07 ERA with 72 strikeouts, 5 wins and 1 save. He was named to the Division II East All-Region Team and was selected for both Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association (TBCA) Underclassman and All-Region for Region One teams.

Alexander started his baseball feat as pitcher for the Hustlers in the SLLBI’s majors division.

Former SLLBI president Mike Borja remembers Alexander to be among the Saipan Little League’s best who helped the All Stars majors make it to the World Series.

“He is a product of Saipan Little League,” Borja said with pride in his voice.

For his part, Webb School head varsity baseball coach, Clark Worrmsley said “Justin Alexander is an outstanding baseball player and should do extremely well at the next level.”
