A Saipan International School student makes one of three attempts in the U18 shotput event during the first day of the PSS All School Athletics at the Oleai Sports Complex on Wednesday.
IN the battle of strength, speed, balance and explosive power, Grace Christian Academy currently rules the shotput event in the U18 high school boys and girls divisions of the PSS All School Track & Field (Athletics) SY 23-24, which kicked off Wednesday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
In the U18 boys division of shotput, each participant had three attempts to throw.
GCA’s Julian Taitano led the competition by recording a distance of 7.74m followed by Saipan International School’s Casey Chambers with 8.74m, and SIS’ Sui Yi with 8.65m.

This year, the PSS Athletics Program and Northern Marianas Athletics added a “qualifying distance” that must be met for student attempts to be measured. Essentially, the organizers studied last year’s qualifying distances for all genders/ages and used them to identify the qualifying distance.
This year’s major sponsors are McDonald’s of Saipan, the Public School System, Northern Marianas Sports Association, the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Fire & Emergency Medical Services and Run Saipan.
