Ghasias Brothers overpower Evenflow in Rocball League opening

Former champions, Ghasias Brothers, dominated the first three sets in the opening match of the league, but was unable to “juice-out” in the fourth set, allowing for a game extension.

Despite their higher game point than Evenflow, Ghasias Brothers still had to battle it out with the other team at the blue court of MHS Gym.

Evenflow made winning games in overtime their trademark of competition in the previous year, and they tried to duplicate this feat with Ghasias Brothers last Saturday, pushing them to the limit before losing in second and final overtime sets to the Ghasias Brothers.

In Rocball, a team cannot win in quarter/set system in a losing set, regardless of game points.

Freddy Pelisamen of Ghasias Brothers was the games heavy hitter with 4 aces, 4 jams, 4 kees, and 2 goals for 26 points.

Freddy’s 4 “Jams” in one game is a new record.

A jam is when a receiving team player spikes down a served ball at the net. It is one of the most difficult plays to make in Rocball.

On another match, Naturals outscored Uraiwak in game points and won the fourth set for a Juice out win, 59-32.

Willie Aguilar and Fiden Denri of the Naturals were the game’s heavy hitters with 9 points each and a total of 4 aces, 2 kees, and a goal.

Soul Rebels cut through team Section ”A” in four sets for a Juice-Out win 69-21.

The Soul Rebels won all four sets.

The heavy hitters of the game were Jordan Igisomar and Ben Lisua with a combined score of 10 aces, 3 kees, and 2 goals for 32 points.

In the fourth game, Fanians Juiced the FSM Rebels in four sets 58-23.

Fanians’ Jazzy Rosokow was the games heavy hitter with 8 aces, and 2 kees for 20 points.

Jazzy’s teammates Rex Jose, Youme Sharry, and Larry Sharry added a goal each to contribute to Fanians’ victory.

The last game of the day saw No-Mercy battling it out in a close win over the Okies in four straight sets 55-52.

Myron Laniyo, captain of No-Mercy and chief Rocball official for the games, was the heavy hitter in the said match with 4 aces, 2 xunks, and 7 kees for 26 points.

Laniyo and Pelisamen tied for heavy hitter on the opening day of the Rocball season opener.
