THE girls middle school division championship tournament of the PSS-NMIVA Interscholastic Volleyball League SY24-25 will begin today, Thursday, and conclude on Saturday with the title match scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the Marianas High School gym.

On Tuesday, Hopwood Middle School, Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, and Grace Christian Academy defeated their respective opponents to advance to the playoff round.

HMS vs TMS

Hopwood secured their second-place spot on the leaderboard by defeating Tanapag Middle School in a three-set match.

In the opening set, TMS asserted their dominance by barely giving HMS time to synchronize. Through bump returns, sets, and spikes finishes along with great defensive coverage, TMS swiftly acquired their first win with ease, 21-5.

HMS reassessed their strategy and returned to the second set with an entirely new demeanor. Most of the possessions were filled with back-and-forth exchanges along with several lead exchanges. But toward the end, HMS managed to grasp a hold of the lead and rode the momentum to victory, 21-17, forcing a third and final set.

With TMS’ backs against the wall, they managed to stay toe-to-toe with HMS. However, they failed to turn the tide and were eventually overwhelmed, ultimately bowing to HMS, 10-15.

Joining the winner’s circle were FMS with a three-set victory against Saipan International School, 21-10, 12-21, 15-2; and GCA, which bested Chacha Oceanview Middle School, 21-12, 21-13.
