The Guardians’ Richard Peredo takes the contested shot during a game of the 2023 Pacific Saipan Promo Invitational Basketball League at the Gualo Rai basketball court on Wednesday.
THE Guardians earned their second straight win in the 2023 Pacific Saipan Promo Invitational Basketball League by shooting down the Eagles Team, 93-60, on Wednesday at the Gualo Rai basketball court.
The Guardians’ chemistry was the highlight of the opening quarter as each player on the court contributed to the scoreboard. They excelled on the defensive end as well as the Eagles Team struggled to find the bottom of the net and remained scoreless after five minutes of play.
But their endless attempts started to pay off as Victor Formales, Joel Bunag and Alain Nunez sank three pointers to cut the lead, 15-31.
However, the Guardians were unstoppable as they ignited a 26-point run in the second quarter led by Rodmar Diaz, Joseph Galulu, and Jerome Directo to regain a double-digit lead.
The Eagles Team’s biggest run happened in the third quarter as their confidence started to grow. George Poquiz and Fred Fatialofa muscled their way inside the paint with four and six points, respectively, while Abraham Sandig added some range with six. But despite their efforts, they could not catch up with the Guardians, who continued to fire away led by Tito Alano, Jann Goddy and Jomari Dela Cruz, en route to victory, 93-60.
