The Hibi-Lampera duo lost, 19-21 to Noli Santos and Michelle Caleon in the first set but returned with a 21-19 victory in set two.
Both champions topped a 22-team pool in the class B mixed division last week, and advanced to the quarterfinals against Berks Blazers Badminton Club’s Lani Bartolome and Jojo Lazaro. They won in two sets, 21-13, 21-9 and conquered Jojo and Jen Savellano in the semis.
Prior to their match, Santos and Caleon came off a fresh win over Saipan Badminton Club’s Gary Bondaja and Heo In Souk.
The Savellanos defeated Bondaja and In Souk, 21-19, 21-19 to settle for third place.
In the class A mixed finals, Saipan BC’s Dick Guintu and Choi Hanna took down Andrew Galvez and Angie Ito in two sets (21-19, 21-16).
Guintu and Hanna downed Saul Gargallo and Marlene Perala in the semis earlier this weekend. Meanwhile, Galvez and Ito dominated Hapi Gabriel and Malou Malasarte, 21-19, 21-12.
Taga Badminton Club’s Luis Camacho and Elna Curate launched a come-from-behind win to top Lee Choon Hee and Kimbo Ranah in the class C mixed finals.
Camacho and Curate fell, 14-21 in set one but pulled off 21-17 and 21-14 wins in the second and third sets, respectively.
Saipan BC’s Oh An Yeol and Hwang Meong took third place, right below Hee and Ranah.
