Hong Kong outruns CNMI, 8-5

Hong Kong scored two runs in the first inning and scored another in the bottom of the second.

Team CNMI couldn’t connect their hits until the fifth inning, when Roke Tenorio hit an RBI triple to send Craig Aguon home. Tenorio, going 3-for-3 in this game, went 6-for-7 overall since his first game against the Philippines on Saturday.

John Quitugua followed with an RBI triple. Jonathan Camacho hit a single, stole to second, went to third, and reached the home plate via pass ball.

Franco Nakamura bagged the All-Stars’ final run on another pass ball.

Team CNMI went empty in the sixth inning, handing Hong Kong its first win in the tournament.

“Our chance now is to beat Guam on Wednesday,” said Castro.

The team will not play any games today but will rest and practice instead.

Team South Korea is currently undefeated with two wins. Hong Kong has one win and two losses. Guam is even with one win and one loss. The Philippines has one win and one loss.

Guam will face the Philippines today and Korea will play Hong Kong.

The CNMI All-Stars must beat Guam to reach second place. Only the top two teams from Pool A and B will advance to Thursday’s playoffs.
